Ajay Patel was born in a simple Gujarati family on 9th of February, 1962. He has done Civil Engineering as well as is a Bachelor of Law (LLB) & serving as Chairman of both The Gujarat State Co-Operative Bank Ltd. (Since 2009), The Ahmedabad District Co-Operative Bank Ltd (Since 2003), Senior Vice-President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Vice President of Gujarat State Chess Association , Vice President at the National Rifle Association of India, President at Gujarat State Rifle Association and President at Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Completed schooling at Divan Ballubhai High School, Ahmedabad, in 1978.
Excellled in swimming and rifle shooting, becoming a champion in both.

Has two daughters: Aneri, a US graduate and Anokhi, a law graduate; as well as a son, Dev a US graduate in Computer Science and Managerial Economics.

Ajay Patel, chairman of the Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Ltd, has been elected unanimously as the chairman of the Co-operative Bank of India (COBI) New Delhi for the next five years.
As Chairman of GSC bank which is APEX bank. it serves the credit and financial needs of nearly 28 Lakhs farmers of 9402 PACS through the 18 District Central Co-operative Banks (DCCBs).
As Chairman of ADC bank. The first priority was to educate, encourage and enthuse the members of the staff and motivate them for achieving the business goals.
